Redefine your style and ReFashion your world!
Second-hand clothing is often stylish and on-trend—many stores have gently-used pieces that look new and feel current. You can mix funky thrifted finds with classic favorites, and refresh your style with unique looks that are budget-friendly and fashionable. You don’t need to spend a lot of money to look fabulous!
Style with a plan! Create your own lookbook of favorite fashion trends from magazines, bloggers, or social media. Follow sustainable fashion influencers.
Take your lookbook with you when you shop so you can look for pieces that have similar colors or textures as the pieces you like.
Don’t be afraid to experiment—try on things that get you out of your comfort zone. It will take some getting used to but you will be rewarded by expanding your closet with diverse pieces that you truly love!
Browse thrift stores early and often! The inventory is always changing, so the earlier in the season you get there and more often you look, the more likely you are to find amazing pieces.
Figure out the vibe of a thrift store ahead of time by reading reviews or following it on social media.
Download the donateNYC app (available on iOS & Android) to check out what thrift stores are in your area. You can also use the app to find places to donate unwanted clothing as you pick up all your incredible thrift finds!
Clean out your closet to support social services.
Are you tired of the clothes you already own? Donate them to nonprofit thrift stores. The sales from your donations help fund social services throughout your community. Plus, you’ll be helping to reduce waste to landfills, while helping another thrifter redefine their style!
